The first Division I scholarship offer came in for Liberty-Eylau junior OL Franklin Smith II on Monday afternoon.

Smith (6-3, 267) announced via Twitter that Alcorn State had made him a formal offer.

The Leopards' standout previously picked up a Division II offer from Arkansas Tech.

Alcorn State, located in Lorman, Miss., competes at the FCS level in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The Braves will be led by first-year coach Fred McNair, the brother of the late Alcorn State and NFL quarterback Steve McNair.

The Braves, who won the Black College National Championship in 2014, finished 9-4 last season. Alcorn State ended the year with a 41-34 loss to North Carolina A&T in the Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl.

Smith was the top lineman on Liberty-Eylau's 2015 team, which reached the Class 4A Division I quarterfinals with a 12-2 final record. He graded out at 92 percent, and recorded 20 pancake blocks.

The L-E star was also among those that competed at Sunday's ETSN.fm + APEC Football Recruiting Combine in Tyler. Smith was able to get 10 reps on the bench press at 225 pounds, and had the second-fastest pro agility time (4.94) of any offensive lineman in attendance.

Smith, like all high school football prospects currently in their junior year, will become eligible to sign with any school that offers on Feb. 1, 2017.
