Alto + San Augustine Claim Seven of District 10-A Division I’s Top Honors

Alto running back Jacolby Whitaker was named Most Valuable Player of District 10-A Division I after leading the Yellowjackets to a fourth-round appearance and 11-3 record.

Whitaker, who ran for 2,696 yards and 39 touchdowns, was one of four Alto players to receive superlative awards with the release of the 10-A D-I all-district team, which was voted on by the league's coaches. Senior Tanner Jones was named Offensive Lineman of the Year, while junior Javie'Ontae Mumphrey received Defensive Lineman of the Year honors. Sophomore Tyarius Hackett shared Newcomer of the Year accolades with Shelbyville freshman Octavion Burrell.

San Augustine senior tailback Tony Hubbard was one of three Wolves to receive awards. Hubbard who ran for 1,776 yards and 29 touchdowns, was named Offensive MVP, while senior Ty'Aundra Taylor earned Special Teams MVP honors. Taylor accounted for almost 1,300 yards of offense and 11 touchdowns. San Augustine's Donald Hubbard was selected Coach of the Year after leading the Wolves to a district championship, third-round playoff appearance, and 9-3 record.

West Sabine junior Hunter Cabral was named the district's Defensive MVP after helping the Tigers to a 9-3 record and third-place district finish.
