Anthony Sanders Leads No. 23 Athens to 62-60 Win Over No. 16 Mexia

ATHENS -- The 23rd-ranked Athens Hornets edged No. 16 Mexia 62-60 on Saturday in non-district basketball action.

Anthony Sanders scored 32 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Athens (16-1). Teammate Ryan Jefferson also recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards.

Curk Harris led a foursome of Mexia (15-3) players in double figures scoring with 13 points. Damian Mathews added 12 points, while LaVictor McKnight and Ike Jones finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Athens continues its season Tuesday at Lindale.
