Arkansas Offers Carthage’s Ty’kieast Crawford
The second Division I FBS scholarship offer arrived for Carthage 2020 offensive tackle Ty'kieast Crawford on Friday.
The Bulldogs' lineman, who is committed to Baylor, reported via Twitter that Arkansas has offered.
Crawford (6-6, 310) is the 11th East Texas recruit in the 2020 class to be targeted by Arkansas.
He joins Carthage ATH Kelvontay Dixon, Diboll ATH Herbert Gums, Athens OL Garrett Hayes, Crockett DE Allen Horace Jr., Longview QB Haynes King, Lufkin WR Ja'Lynn Polk, Pine Tree WR JJ Sparkman, Newton DE James Sylvester, Lufkin S Jerrin Thompson, and Marshall WR Savion Williams.
Crawford anchors a strong offensive line for the two-time defending state champions. Carthage (9-0, 4-0 in District 10-4A Division I) is currently ranked No. 1 in the state, and brings a 35-game winning streak into Friday's regular-season finale against Kilgore.
Arkansas is under first-year head coach Chad Morris, a native East Texan whose previous college stops include SMU, Clemson, and Tulsa. He also was a Texas high school coach, leading programs at Elysian Fields, Bay City, Stephenville, and Lake Travis among others.
Razorbacks Running backs coach Jeff Traylor, who is in charge of recruiting the East Texas region, coached his native Gilmer to three state championships from 2000-2014 before making the jump to college coaching at both Texas and SMU before Arkansas.
Arkansas is 2-7 overall and 0-5 in SEC play this season.
Crawford, like all juniors, is first eligible to sign with any program that offers him in December of 2019.
