ARP -- Arp avenged two 2015 losses to Waskom on Friday, as the Tigers scored two late touchdowns to pull away from the Wildcats, 27-7.

The Tigers (4-1) opened District 9-3A Division II with a crucial win, while two-time defending state champion Waskom (2-3) is in an early hole.

Tyler Stewart and Kayce Medlock scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to put the game out of reach. Medlock scored from 41 yards out and Stewart from 2.

Arp broke a 7-7 tie late in the third quarter when Stewart hit Jacoby Hawkins for an 83-yard touchdown.

Ty Carter scored Waskom's only touchdown on a 4-yard touchdown run with just over three minutes to play in the second quarter to tie the game at 7-7.
