BECKVILLE -- Arp used a big second quarter to take an early lead and held on to beat Beckville, 20-10, on Friday night for the Tigers' first District 9-3A Division II win of the season.

Demontrae Wade rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries for Arp (2-4, 1-2), while quarterback Dakota Shores threw for 54 yards and a touchdown to Texas commit Demarvion Overshown on 4 of 8 passing.

Two second-quarter touchdowns were all Arp needed in this one. The first score came on Shores' touchdown pass to Overshown, and Caleb Wright followed with a 13-yard touchdown run to give the Tigers a 14-0 lead at halftime.

Carlos Campos cut Arp's lead to 14-3 in the fourth quarter after a 30-yard field goal, but Arp responded with Wade's 16-yard touchdown run with three minutes left to seal the deal.

Quarterback Trey Lindsay led Beckville offensively with 236 yards passing and 36 yards and a touchdown rushing. His touchdown came from a yard out as time expired in the fourth quarter.
