Arp’s Tyrone Hunt Commits to UTSA

UTSA got its man Monday with Arp defensive end Tyrone Hunt pledging to join the Roadrunners program next season.

Hunt (6-4, 230) received his UTSA offer in late May. The program had the inside track the whole way as the big defensive lineman's sole offer to date.

The Arp prospect has great athleticism for the position. Hunt recorded five sacks, eight tackles for loss and 47 tackles last season in addition to three quarterback pressures.

The Roadrunners program was established in 2011 and has been in a probationary period as a new program. UTSA's 2014 season will be the first year the program is allowed to play in the postseason.

A bowl game isn't out of the question. The team, headed by Larry Coker, went 7-5 last season and finished second in Conference USA with a 6-2 league record. It recorded a win at New Mexico and played Oklahoma State very well in a road loss.

UTSA's 2014 schedule features games against Houston, a home game at the Alamodome against Arizona, Oklahoma State and New Mexico in addition to eight Conference USA games.

Hunt is the Roadrunners' first East Texas commitment in the Class of 2015. He'll be able to sign with the program in February.

UTSA has another standing offer out for Longview offensive lineman Broderick Washington. It also offered New Boston's Jeff Gladney and Canton's Samuel Miller, but they are committed to TCU and North Texas respectively.

Hunt and the Tigers begin the 2014 season Friday at home against Paul Pewitt.
