GLADEWATER -- Atlanta scored the game's first 20 ppints, and held on for a 35-28 win over Gladewater on Friday night in clash of District 6-4A Division II unbeatens Friday night at Jack V. Murphy Bear Stadium.

The Rabbits (4-3, 2-0) scored twice on defense in the first half, and went into halftime with a 28-7 lead.

Gladewater scored two touchdowns in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 28-21, but Tyrell Phillips put the game away with a 62-yard touchdown run late in the third.

Phillips finished the night with 144 yards on 25 carries to lead Atlanta.

Gladewater (2-5, 1-1) scored with less than two minutes remaining on Marcello Jackson's 5-yard run, but Atlanta was able to run out the remainder of the clock.

Leyton Henson fired a 3-yard touchdown pass to Jacobi Hamilton to give Atlanta a 6-0 lead late in the first quarter. The Rabbits pushed their lead to 12-0 when Shelton Haskins returned a Gladewater fumble 48 yards for a touchdown.

Atlanta increased its lead to 20-0 midway through the second quarter when Kelton Young scored on a 4-yard touchdown run. Keyuntea Kinney recorded the Rabbits' second defensive TD of the half when he recovered a fumble and raced 22 yards to the end zone.

Gladewater made things interesting in the third quarter, trimming the deficit on touchdown passes of 52 and 51 yards from Blake Guthrie to Cameron Callaway.

Both teams return to action next Friday night. Gladewater plays at Pleasant Grove, while Atlanta plays host to Center.
