ARP -- Led by seniors Bailey Rhodes and Mariah Goguen, the Harmony Lady Eagles swept the Arp Lady Tigers 25-12, 25-20, 25-21 in District 18-2A play Tuesday night.

Rhodes had six kills, four aces and two blocks, while Goguen added eight kills and two blocks.

"(Rhodes and Goguen) are so good, so your expectation is just so high for them, you just want them to be better and better," Harmony coach Renesia Wilburn said. "They are both seniors, they're just now coming into their own. We're finally starting to hit our stride."

Also filling the stat sheet for the Lady Eagles (4-1 in 18-2A) were McKenna Thomas and McKinna Seahorn. Thomas had nine assists and three aces, while Seahorn added seven assists and two kills.

"Everytime we play Arp, it's a battle," Wilburn said. "They're a scrappy bunch."

Arp (13-18, 2-4) was led by seniors Rebecca Daniels and Taylor Burnett. Daniels kicked in five assists, three aces, two kills and one block. Burnett contributed eight kills, three blocks and two assists.

The Lady Tigers also got a glimpse of the future with sophomore outside hitter Alicia Summers and freshman middle Tinikia Lacy. Summers had six assists and an ace, while Lacy chipped in with four blocks and three kills.

"I've got a mixture of seniors and young ones," Arp coach Leigh Ann Roberts said. "We're just young and have to keep working. Communication is our biggest factor, and there just isn't enough."

District play continues on Friday when Arp plays at Sabine, while Harmony is at Troup on Saturday.
