PRICE -- Gunner Baker and Zach Brightwell combined for a five-inning perfect game to lead Class A No. 1 Carlisle to a 15-0 win against Gary on Friday.

Baker struck out 11 batters in four innings, while Brightwell fanned two in his one inning.

Baker was also 4-for-4 with two RBIs, three runs scored, and four stolen bases. Brightwell had one hit, two RBIs, two runs, and two walks. Jaylan Holland was 2-for-3 with a game-high five RBIs, while singled once and had two sacrifice flies to finish with four RBIs.

Carlisle's Caleb Colley was 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI, and three runs. Clay Allphin singled twice and knocked in a run. Shadow Sanders and Ty Baker each had two walks and one run. Courtesy runner Kyle Byrd scored three times.

Carlisle (20-0, 13-0) five first-inning runs before adding three in the second and seven in the third to put away the game early. The Indians travel to Big Sandy on Friday for a 6 p.m. game.

Carthage Hands Lufkin Hudson First 20-3A Loss

HUDSON -- JayDon Day had a huge game for Carthage, which beat Lufkin Hudson 4-0 on Friday to give the Hornets their first District 20-3A defeat.

Day pitched a complete-game three-hitter, striking out five and walking three to improve to 7-2 this season. He also had a three-run sixth-inning homer to break a scoreless tie and power the Bulldogs to the win.

Carthage, ranked 11th in the latest txhsbaseball.com Class 3A poll, improved to 22-5 overall and 8-2 in 20-3A. Hudson, ranked sixth in that same poll, fell to 21-5 overall and 9-1 in district.

Carthage's Sammy Chhor was 3-for-4, while Kolby Blissett was 2-for-4 with a double. Carthage had nine hits to Hudson's three.

Carthage, which has won 13 of its last 14 games, plays at Huntington on Tuesday.
