Baseball Roundup: Rockwall Downs Longview + Carthage Blanks Diboll

LONGVIEW — Cole Ballew homered and drove in two runs, Carter Lilly stuck out 11 in 6 1/3 innings and the Rockwall Yellowjackets defeat Longview, 6-3, Thursday to snap the Lobos’ three-game winning streak.

Lilly allowed three runs (one earned) on eight hits with one walk for Rockwall (18-5, 4-2). Kendall Coleman and Garrett Moon each had two hits to lead Rockwall at the plate.

Tre Allen and Alec Bradshaw had RBIs for Longview (12-7, 3-3), while Jared Pauley went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in the losing effort.

Longview’s season resumes April 5 at home against Mesquite.

Mount Pleasant Upsets No. 4 Hallsville

MOUNT PLEASANT — Ryan Kelly tossed seven shutout innings, leading Mount Pleasant to a 1-0 upset of fourth-ranked Hallsville on Thursday in District 14-4A action.

The win improved Mount Pleasant to 12-7 overall and 3-1 in league play, while Hallsville fell to 18-3 and 3-1 in 14-4A.

Mount Pleasant is back in action April 5 at Pine Tree, while Hallsville’s season resumes April 5 at home against Texas High.

JayDon Day Pitches Carthage To Win

CARTHAGE — JayDon Day pitched 6 2/3 shutout innings, leading Carthage to a 6-0 win over Diboll on Thursday in District 20-3A action.

Day struck out five and did not walk a batter.

Blake Bogenschutz had a two-run double at the plate for Carthage (17-5, 4-2). Beaux Guilbeau added an RBI single, Jack Morris was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Kolby Blissett went 2-for-4 and scored twice.

Carthage is back in action April 5 at home against Center. Diboll, meanwhile, resumes its season April 5 at Jasper.

Bullard Brook Hill Cruises to Big Win

DALLAS — Clayton Engel and Collin Mondrik each had three RBIs, leading Bullard Brook Hill to an 11-1 win in five innings over Dallas First Baptist on Thursday.

Mike Greening was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored in the win.

Mondrik got the win on the mound, allowing one run on five hits with four strikeouts in five innings.

The Guard’s season continues Tuesday at home against McKinney Christian.
