TYLER -- Lufkin Hudson picked up a pair of wins Friday at the 22nd Annual Rose City Classic at Mike Carter Field.

Hudson defeated Sulphur Springs, 4-3, and Kilgore, 8-7, on the second day of the event.

In the win over Sulphur Springs, Trevor Adams and Micah Ellison each had two hits and two RBIs. Gentry Ford and Audy Clary also collected two hits in Hudson's 11-hit attack.

Blake Nerron earned the win, allowing one earned run and four hits with four strikeouts and four walks. Riley Smith stuck out two and picked up the save.

Ellison, Nerron, Clary and Anthony Doss all drove in two runs in the win over Kilgore.

Logan Smith earned the win in relief, allowing one earned run on six hits with three strikeouts in 3 1-3 innings. Starter Caleb Hanks gave up four earned runs and struck out eight in 3 2-3 innings of work.

No. 9 Carlisle Rolls Past West Rusk

PRICE -- Gunner Baker and Clay Allphin each drove in four runs to lead ninth-ranked Carlisle to an 18-0 rout of West Rusk on Friday at the Carlisle tournament.

Zach Brightwell (1-0) stuck out seven and allowed just one hit in three innings for the win.

Carlisle (3-0) also benefitted from 10 walks issued by West Rusk pitching, and five errors in the field.

The Indians face Tyler East Texas Christian at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Ryan Covington Leads Brownsboro to Win

PALESTINE -- Ryan Covington drove in two runs at the plate and pitched two scoreless innings on the mound in Brownsboro's 6-3 win over Groesbeck on Thursday in the Howard Estes Memorial Tournament.

Covington drove home a run in the sixth inning, and tripled in another in the seventh. He also struck out three and allowed just one hit in his two innings on the hill.

Tyler Thomison earned the win for Brownsboro. He allowed three runs on two hits, struck out four and walked two in 2 2-3 innings.
