TEXARKANA -- Spencer Barton pitched 5 2/3 solid innings, Reid Russell homered and the Longview Lobos opened the season with a 9-2 win over Texas High on Tuesday.

Barton also went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Lobos (1-0). Jared Pauley was 3-for-3 and Tre Allen doubled part of a 2-for-4 performance in the win. Alec Bradshaw added two hits for Longview.

Trenton Holloway worked the final 1 1/3 innings on the mound for the Lobos.

Connor Reich Dominates in Hallsville's Shutout of Rusk

HALLSVILLE -- Connor Reich pitched an 18-strikeout no-hitter in Hallsville's 7-0 season-opening win against Rusk.

Reich walked only one batter in his no-hit performance, which also included a double at the plate.

Hallsville plays in the Rose City Classic in Tyler starting Thursday.

Carthage Rolls to 8-0 Win Against Spring Hill

LONGVIEW -- JayDon Day pitched six shutout innings to lead Carthage to an 8-0 season-opening win at Spring Hill on Tuesday.

Day had six strikeouts and held Spring Hill to four hits while collecting three hits of his own plus an RBI from the plate.

Carthage participates in the Rose City Classic in Tyler starting Thursday.

Bullard Scores 8-3 Win Over Pollok Central

POLLOK -- Connor Mebane had two hits and drove in four runs to lead Bullard to an 8-3 win over Pollok Central on Tuesday.

Weston Gray was also 2-for-4 with a double, triple and RBI for Bullard (1-0).

Trevor Rumbelow and Britt Thomas combined to strike out 11 in seven innings.

No. 3 Elkhart Begins the Season With Rout of Timpson

ELKHART -- Jacob Cheatham had three hits and seven RBIs, leading third-ranked Elkhart to an 11-1 win over Timpson on Tuesday in the season opener for both teams.

Jordan White picked up the win on the mound for Elkhart (1-0), striking out eight and allowing two hits in five innings.

Newton's Devin Woods Tosses Five-Inning No-Hitter

NEWTON -- Devin Woods did not allow a hit in Newton's 13-0 win over Burkeville on Tuesday in a game shortened by the 10-run mercy rule.

Woods struck out 11 and walked three on the night for Newton (1-0).

Sabine Earns 6-3 Win Over New Diana

DIANA -- Bruce Broyles had three hits and two RBIs, leading Sabine to a 6-3 win over New Diana on Monday.

Kyle Callens struck out nine and allowed three runs and five hits in seven innings to get the win on the mound.

Sabine (1-0) took the lead with four runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by Broyles' two-run single. The Cardinals tacked on two more in the seventh for insurance.

Mount Vernon Takes Down Winnsboro

Mount Vernon scored a 5-2 win over Winnsboro on Tuesday.

Jeremy Lawrence went 2-for-3 and David Santoy struck out six in 2 2/3 innings in the losing effort.

Gunner Baker, No. 9 Carlisle Rout Kennard, 13-3

PRICE -- Senior standout Gunner Baker struck out 12 and allowed just one hit in five innings, leading ninth-ranked Carlisle past Kennard, 13-3, on Tuesday.

Zach Brightwell was 2-for-4 with four RBIs to lead the Indians (1-0) at the plate. Ben Goss went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, while Caleb Colley and Jaylan Holland had two hits apiece in the win.

Mount Enterprises Edges Gary

MOUNT ENTERPRISE -- Hunter Ammons struck out 11 in four innings, helping Mount Enterprise to a 5-4 win over Gary on Tuesday.

Chance Young had a hit and scored two runs, and Ty Ham and Charlie Bailey each had an RBI in the win.

Steven Martin got the win in relief, while Young nailed down the save for Mount Enterprise.

Sheyenne Atchley Leads Arp By Overton

OVERTON -- Sheyenne Atchley tossed a one-hit shutout with nine strikeouts in Arp's 9-0 win over Overton on Tuesday.

Atchley also had two hits at the plate. Sierra Atchley had three hits with a home run, two RBIs and two steals, Taylor Burnett also went deep for Arp.
