BROWNSBORO -- Braden Nelson pitched seven solid innings, Andrew Black had a two-run double and the Chapel Hill Bulldogs opened the baseball season with a 4-1 win over Brownsboro on Monday.

Nelson allowed a run on six hits with three strikeouts and no walks. Black's two-run double gave the Bulldogs (1-0) a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.

Shelby Rogers was strong on the mound for Brownsboro (0-1), despite allowing no earned runs and just one hit with three strikeouts in his four innings of work.

Chris Davis led Brownsboro, which outhit Chapel Hill 6-4, with three hits on the night.

Chapel Hill returns to action Thursday against Mount Enterprise on the opening day of the Chapel Hill tournament. Brownsboro participates in the Palestine tournament beginning Thursday.

Sam Sitton Powers Lindale Past Henderson

LINDALE -- Sam Sitton homered and pitched five strong innings on the mound, carrying Lindale to an 8-3 season-opening win over Henderson on Monday.

Lindale (1-0) broke the game open with a six-run fourth inning against Henderson (0-1), which committed seven errors on the night.

Jon French was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a steal for Lindale at the plate.

Lindale returns to action Thursday-Saturday in the North Texas tournament in Fort Worth. Henderson, meanwhile, faces Nacogdoches Central Heights on Thursday in the White Oak tournament.

Riley Smith Dominates on Mound For Lufkin Hudson

NACOGDOCHES -- Riley Smith struck out 15 and allowed to just one hit in Lufkin Hudson's 6-0 win over Nacogdoches Central Heights on Monday in the season opener for both teams.

Trevor Adams, Audy Clary, Luke English and Jacob Pouland each had an RBI for Hudson (1-0), which recorded seven hits on the night.

Lufkin Hudson faces Nacogdoches on Thursday in Tyler's Rose CIty Classic, while Central Heights (0-1) is participating in the White Oak tournament.

Diboll Drops Season Opener to Silsbee

SILSBEE -- The Diboll Lumberjacks dropped a 6-4 decision to Silsbee on Monday in both teams' season opener.

Alex Grimaldo led Diboll (0-1) at the plate with a triple, single and two RBIs.

Sophomore Alex Aguilar suffered the loss, allowing three runs and six hits in four innings. Eric DeJesus came on in relief and allowed no earned runs with three strikeouts in four innings.

Diboll faces Pine Tree on Thursday on the first day of the Pine Tree Invitational.

Rebecca Daniels Leads Arp Past Neches

NECHES -- Rebecca Daniels struck out 13 in seven solid innings, leading Arp to a 9-2 win over Neches on Monday.

Daniels, who provided an RBI triple at the plate, allowed just one earned run and three hits, walking two.

Kayleigh Moore sparked Arp at the plate with two doubles and two RBIs.
