The new coaching staff at Baylor has been busy over the past couple of weeks doling out offers to recruits in the 2017 class.

One of East Texas' top offensive playmakers got a call from Baylor on Monday, as Henderson senior receiver Trestan Ebner announced the Bears offered him via Twitter.

Ebner (5-11, 180), who has committed to TCU, is the third area prospect in the last week to pick up an offer from Baylor, joining Henderson teammate and fellow TCU pledge Lakendrick VanZandt and John Tyler QB/ATH Bryson Smith, who is committed to Houston.

Matt Rhule was hired as Baylor's new head coach earlier this month, and to help the transition, the ex-Temple Owls coach has hired three assistants with ties to Texas high school football -- Cedar Hill's Joey Maguire, Round Rock Cedar Ridge's Shawn Bell, and San Antonio Reagan's David Wetzel.

Jim Grobe served as Baylor's interim coach in 2016 after the school parted ways with Art Briles, who was embroiled in the school's sexual assault scandal.

The Bears were 6-6 during the regular season, and will face Boise State on Dec. 27 in the Cactus Bowl.

Ebner was one of East Texas' most productive players in 2016. He helped Henderson to an 11-2 record and berth in the Class 4A Division I Region III semifinals.

The Lions' two-way standout finished with 57 catches for 1,074 yards and 16 touchdowns on offense, and racked up 69 tackles (10 for loss), five sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery on defense.

Like all college football prospects currently in their senior year of high school, Ebner will become eligible to sign with any school that offers him in February.
