The third offer arrived Wednesday for Nacogdoches standout Brandon Jones.

The 6-foot, 185-pound safety tweeted around 2:30 p.m. that Baylor has offered him, making the Bears the third BCS program to offer the class of 2016 prospect.

Baylor joins Texas A&M and Texas Tech on Jones' offer list.

Jones, who first saw varsity action as a freshman in 2012, had a breakout sophomore campaign. He finished with 95 tackles, five interceptions, one defensive touchdown, and two punt return touchdowns.

Jones is the only player in East Texas' 2016 class to receive an offer at this point, but that should change in the near future. Early on, the class appears to be another deep pool for the region. John Tyler defensive tackle Braylon Jones (6-2, 275), Carthage tight end Marquise Guinn (6-4, 220), Carthage defensive end Jarrod McLin (6-3, 220), Frankston receiver Kendrick Rogers (6-4, 180), and Bullard Brook Hill receiver Seth Brasher (6-2, 175) are also potential FBS recruits, among others.

Texas head coach Charlie Strong was in Tyler on Wednesday morning visiting John Tyler. Carthage head coach Scott Surratt said Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Michigan have visited the Bulldogs in the last several days.
