CARTHAGE -- White Oak defeated Whitehouse 25-13, 25-20 in the gold bracket's championship match of the Carthage volleyball tournament on Saturday.

White Oak did not drop a set on Saturday, sweeping Gilmer (25-8, 25-10) in the first round and host Carthage (25-16, 25-22) in the semifinals.

Whitehouse defeated Bullard (25-12, 25-14) and Nacogdoches (25-11, 25-14) to reach the final.

Carthage (5-2) claimed third place by sweeping Nacogdoches 25-12, 25-23.

Elysian Fields swept Longview 25-21, 25-23 to claim the gold bracket's consolation title.

 

Pine Tree JV Wins Title In Silver Bracket; Beckville Claims Consolation

The Pine Tree junior varsity outlasted Rio Vista 25-10, 15-25, 25-18 for the  silver bracket championship.

Pine Tree defeated Jefferson (25-20, 21-25, 25-11) and Tyler T.K. Gorman (19-25, 25-23, 25-16) earlier in the day. Rio Vista beat Marshall (25-17, 25-23) and Overton (25-23, 17-25, 25-23) to reach the final.

Beckville brought its record to 4-4 on the young season by winning two of three matches to claim the consolation title.

Beckville beat Jefferson 25-12, 25-15 and Tatum 18-25, 25-17, 25-20. The Ladycats lost 25-23, 25-19 to Tyler T.K. Gorman.

Ivy Rieke had 25 kills on the afternoon, including 11 against Jefferson, while Taylor Lindsay and Shelbi Dodson had 20 kills apiece. Linday had nine against Tatum, and Dodson had nine against Jefferson. Montana Searcy had 55 assists, including 23 against Tatum and 21 against Jefferson. Search and Emma Smith dished out 11 assists apiece in the loss to T.K. Gorman.

Maya Bradford's seven aces led Beckville, which got 12 digs from Linday against Gorman and eight from her in the win vs. Tatum. In that victory, Dalye Alfaro (9), Bradford (9), Lindsay (8), Searcy (8), Dodson (8), Carson Blair (5), and Rieke (5) all loaded up on digs. Stacie Brevard had four kills, two assists, and two digs against Tatum.

Beckville visits Elysian Fields at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Tyler All Saints Finishes Second in Gold Bracket at Van Tourney

VAN -- The Tyler All Saints Lady Trojans went 3-3 over the weekend to finish in second in the gold bracket of the Van volleyball tournament.

On the first day, All Saints defeated Alba-Golden 25-11, 25-13, but lost to Mineola (25-22, 25-23) and Kaufman (25-14, 25-15). The Lady Trojans went 2-1 on Saturday, beating Gladewater (25-21, 25-12) and Cayuga (25-14, 25-18) and falling to Kaufman (25-22, 14-25, 25-14).

All Saints continues its season Tuesday at Lindale.

 

Arp Claims Second Place in Silver Bracket of Van Tournament

VAN -- The Arp Lady Tigers went 2-1 on the final day of the Van volleyball tournament, finishing second in the silver bracket on Saturday.

Arp defeated Alba-Golden 21-25, 25-21, 25-19 and Grand Saline 25-18, 25-21 to reach the final. Arp, however, fell in the championship match to Canton 25-16, 25-14.

In the win over Alba-Golden, Kayleigh Moore led the way with five kills, 18 digs and one ace. Lauren Littlefield added four kills, one blocks and two digs, Sheyenne Atchley contributed 17 digs and two aces and Kaci Kuykendall racked up five kills, one block and one dig.

Against Grand Saline, Arp was paced by Moore's five kills and seven digs, Taylor Burnett's four kills, one block and one dig and Jessica Daniel's nine digs and four aces.

In the loss to Canton, Moore had three kills and five digs. Atchley added 11 digs, while Burnett produced a kill and five digs.

Arp resumes its season Tuesday at home with a dual match with Quitman and Van.
