On a night when East Texas coaching veteran Randy McFarlin made his head coaching debut at Tyler Bishop Gorman, one of his players stole the show.

Not only did Crusaders' senior wideout Isaiah Haggerty put up nearly 300 receiving yards, he caught the game-winning touchdown on the final play of the game.

Haggerty is the ETSN.fm/Dairy Queen Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts in Gorman's thrilling 41-35 season-opening win over Garrison last Friday night.

The talented receiver, who holds a Division I scholarship offer from Howard University, finished the night with nine catches for 284 yards and four touchdowns. One of his scores was good from 95 yards.

With the game tied at 35-35, Gorman junior quarterback Jake Smith hooked up with Haggerty for the game-winning 20-yard touchdown with no time remaining on the clock.

It was one of three fourth-quarter connections between Smith and Haggerty. The duo had touchdowns from 65 and 21 yards as well as Gorman outscored Garrison, 20-8, in the final period.

Another fireworks display could be on the horizon this week as Gorman (1-0) plays host to White Oak (1-0) on Friday night. White Oak is coming off a wild 54-51 defeat of New Diana in its season opener.
