NEW CHAPEL HILL -- A week after hooking up for touchdown passes twice in a 17-point win against Lindale, Carthage quarterback Blake Bogenschutz and receiver Tee Goree were at it again Friday night at Chapel Hill.

The junior duo connected for three first-half touchdown passes in a 30-6 Carthage road win that snaps a two-game losing streak to Chapel Hill.

Bogenschutz, a 6-foot, 182-pound right-hander, enters next week's game at Nacogdoches with six touchdown passes, five of which have gone to the 6-2, 170-pound Goree.

Carthage (2-1), ranked seventh in the latest Associated Press Class 3A poll, built a 24-6 halftime lead behind the trio of touchdown passes to Goree, the first of which was a 16-yarder set up by senior linebacker Trent Jackson's interception. Carthage led 10-0 at that point after opening the game with a 29-yard Jimmy Gonzalez field goal.

Carthage responded to Chapel Hill's only touchdown of the game with a 41-yard strike from Bogenschutz to Goree for a 17-6 advantage. Bogenschutz's 40-yard touchdown pass to Goree with 1:16 left until halftime put Carthage ahead 24-6.

Junior tailback Tevin Pipkin added a second-half touchdown run to give Carthage the 24-point victory.

Carthage visits Nacogdoches on Friday, while Chapel Hill visits Palestine.
