Tuesday is the final night of the regular season for boys high school basketball, and there are several playoff spots up for grabs all across East Texas.

But in addition to the postseason drama, a big-time rematch between two area powers takes place at the Lions Den with 10th-ranked Jacksonville (32-0, 9-0 in District 16-4A) facing John Tyler (13-14, 7-2).

Jacksonville is shooting for the rare undefeated regular season.

The Indians won the first meeting, 50-49, on Jan. 22 in a come-from-behind victory. Jacksonville trailed by 13 early in the second half before rallying to keep its perfect season intact.

Jacksonville, JT and Whitehouse have already clinched playoff spots from 16-4A. One more spot is available with Corsicana (21-10, 3-6) and Nacogdoches (14-13, 3-6) vying for the postseason.

Corsicana plays host to last-place Lindale (9-19, 0-9), while Nacogdoches travels to Whitehouse (21-9, 5-4).

In District 14-4A, the Marshall Mavericks (24-8, 8-1) are in the playoffs as district champions. Everything else is still to be determined as four teams, separated by just one game, have their eyes on one of three remaining postseason spots.

And all four play each other. Pine Tree (11-20, 4-5) is at Mount Pleasant (18-12, 5-4) and Hallsville (12-18, 4-5) plays at Texas High (14-12, 5-4).

In 15-3A, one playoff spot remains as Canton (17-14, 5-4) and Athens (18-15, 5-4) are tied for the district's final berth. Canton plays host to Mabank (7-2 in district), while Athens entertains Van (1-8).

There's a pretty simple solution to the 19-3A playoff puzzle. The winner of Tuesday night's clash between Rusk (3-4 in district) and Palestine (10-16, 3-4) takes the league's last postseason spot.

In 14-2A, three teams -- Quitman (18-10, 9-4), Winnsboro (9-4) and Commerce (14-13, 8-5) are vying for the last two playoff spots. Quitman is at Como-Pickton (15-15, 7-6), Winnsboro is at Alba-Golden (2-11) and Commerce plays host to Grand Saline (1-12).

There is an interesting scenario in 17-2A involving Jefferson (8-5 in district) and Waskom (18-8, 7-5). If Jefferson defeats Elysian Fields (0-12) and Waskom takes care of Union Grove (16-13, 4-9) on Tuesday and Elysian Fields on Friday, there will be a tie for the third and final playoff spot.

In 20-2A, one spot remains and Kirbyville (8-5) in district) and Woodville (9-4) will battle it out for the final playoff berth. Woodville plays host to Warren (5-7), while Kirbyville must hope for a Woodville loss and defeat No. 1 Kountze (31-4, 13-0).

There is still one playoff berth available from District 25-A Division II as No. 17 Laneville (20-8, 7-4) and No. 20 Chireno (21-9, 7-4) enter Tuesday night's action tied for the league's last spot.

Laneville is at Groveton Centerville (0-11), while Chireno plays host to eighth-ranked Oakwood (16-6, 9-2).
