Boys Basketball Games to Watch: Tyler Lee Looks to Hold Steady In 12-5A
The Tyler Lee Red Raiders are currently tied for third place in District 12-5A with a couple teams lurking not far behind. And on Friday, Lee (16-7, 3-2) plays host to one of those schools -- North Mesquite (9-12, 2-3).
A win will ensure the Red Raiders remain in the driver's seat for one of four playoffs berths from the district.
Lee, which had a bye on Tuesday, is coming off a 64-49 win over Rockwall-Heath last Friday. The Red Raiders were led by Taylor Tankersley, who finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds.
North Mesquite defeated Rockwall-Heath, 63-59, on Tuesday.
In 14-4A, the Marshall Mavericks (17-8, 1-1) look to rebound from its first district loss against Pine Tree (8-16, 1-1), which just picked up its first league win on Tuesday.
Meanwhile in 16-4A, No. 12 Jacksonville (25-0, 2-0) puts its unbeaten season on the line at Nacogdoches (12-8, 1-1), John Tyler (8-12, 2-0) is at Corsicana (19-6, 0-2) and Whitehouse (17-6, 1-1) plays host to Lindale (9-12, 0-2).
Bullard (12-12, 3-2), which enters Friday's action tied for the last playoff spot in District 16-3A, has a big test at Spring Hill (16-8, 4-1).
