Boys Basketball Roundup: Jacksonville Still Perfect, No. 2 White Oak Rolls + More
CORSICANA -- The No. 12 Jacksonville Indians remained perfect on the season with a 50-27 win over Corsicana on Tuesday night in District 16-4A action.
KD Buckingham led Jacksonville (25-0, 2-0) with 12 points, while DD Franklin added 10.
The Indians return to action Friday at Nacogdoches.
Anthony Sanders Leads Athens to Big Win Over Mineola
ATHENS -- Anthony Sanders had 26 points in Athens' 91-63 rout of Mineola on Tuesday in a battle of District 15-3A foes.
The win improved the Hornets to 14-12 overall and 1-1 in district, while Mineola fell to 16-5 and 0-2.
Athens is at Brownsboro on Friday, while Mineola plays host to Mabank.
Chapel Hill Remains Perfect in 16-3A
GLADEWATER -- The Chapel Hill Bulldogs stayed unbeaten in District 16-3A with a 73-53 rout of Gladewater on Tuesday.
Chapel Hill (16-7, 6-0) was led by 6-6 post Michael Harris, who finished with 25 points. Keilon Moore added 16 for the Bulldogs.
Chapel Hill is off Friday but returns to action next Tuesday at Henderson. Gladewater is at Henderson on Friday.
Kilgore Rolls Past Gladewater
KILGORE -- The Kilgore Bulldogs eased to a 42-16 win over Henderson on Tuesday in District 16-3A action.
Xavier Gaona led a balanced Kilgore (6-13, 3-2) attack with nine points on three 3-pointers. Caleb Thomas added eight points.
Henderson fell to 2-17 overall and 1-4 in district.
Kilgore is at Gilmer on Friday.
No. 20 Mexia Takes Down Palestine, 65-40
PALESTINE -- The 20th-ranked Mexia Blackcats rolled to a 65-40 win over Palestine on Friday in District 19-3A action.
Palestine (8-13, 1-1) was led in scoring by Ben Luckett, who finished with 10 points.
The Wildcats are back in action Friday at Fairfield.
No. 2 White Oak Has No Trouble With Ore City
ORE CITY -- The second-ranked White Oak Roughnecks eased to a 91-33 win over Ore City on Tuesday in District 17-2A action.
White Oak (22-1, 6-0) had six players reach double figures in scoring. Levi Yancy led the charge with 14 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Tanner Sharp also had 14 for White Oak.
Slade Sutton and Skylar Sutton had 13 and 12 points, respectively. Kris Anderson contributed 10 points, six assists and three steals, and Josh Benson added 10 points, seven boards and four steals.
White Oak is back in action Friday at home against New Diana. Ore City, meanwhile, plays host to No. 4 Tatum.
Edgewood Rolls to District Win over Alba-Golden
ALBA -- The Edgewood Bulldogs rolled past Alba-Golden, 51-30, Tuesday in District 14-2A action.
Jackson Tyner led Edgewood (16-8, 5-1) with 20 points and eight rebounds. Christian Davison added eight points, 10 boards and four steals.
Edgewood returns to the court Friday at home against Lone Oak. Alba-Golden is at Winnsboro.
Hawkins Comes Away With Defeat of Harmony
HARMONY -- The Hawkins Hawks scored a 58-52 victory Tuesday in District 18-2A competition.
Lavon Davis led Hawkins (15-9, 4-2) with 14 points, while Noah Burwell added 12.
Alan Peralta paced Harmony (8-14, 1-5) with a game-high 18 points. Jacob Felden contributed 15.
Hawkins plays host to Arp on Friday, while Harmony is at Winona.
Chireno Scores Upset of No. 7 Laneville
CHIRENO -- Chireno handed seventh-ranked Laneville its second District 25-A Division II loss in as many weeks with a 71-67 win on Tuesday.
Laneville (16-8, 3-2) was led by Donta Harris' 27 points. Kendrick Anderson added 11 points, while Tralon Alexander had 10.
The Tigers return to action Friday at home against Centerville. Chireno travels to Oakwood.
Eighth-Ranked San Augustine Rolls Past Brookeland
SAN AUGUSTINE -- Desmond Randle scored 22 points to lead No. 8 San Augustine to a 102-28 win over Brookeland on Tuesday in District 23-A Division I action.
Ty'Aundra Taylor added 19 points for San Augustine, which improved to 11-5 overall and 2-0 in district. Jordan Garrett had 13 points and Bobby Tanner had 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Wolves.
San Augustine is back in action Friday at Lufkin Pineywoods.
Martin's Mill Remains Unbeaten in District
MARTIN'S MILL -- The Martin's Mill Mustangs stayed perfect in District 17-A Division I with a 66-26 rout of Harleton on Tuesday night.
Hunter Conway led the Mustangs (15-8, 6-0) with 18 points, while Davis Moore added 17 points and six assists.
Martin's Mill returns to action next Tuesday at Beckville, while Harleton faces Beckville on Friday.
Dallas Shelton Rolls Past Tyler Grace
DALLAS -- Dallas Shelton defeated Tyler Grace, 70-49, Tuesday night in TAPPS District 2-4A action.
Trevor Gunter led Grace (10-10, 1-2) with 24 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. Andrew Melhart added 14 points, seven boards and two assists in the losing effort.
The Cougars are back in action Friday at home against crosstown rival Tyler All Saints.
West Sabine Blows Past Lufkin Pineywoods
LUFKIN -- The West Sabine Tigers scored an 85-14 win over Lufkin Pineywoods Academy in District 23-A Division I action on Monday.
Rickel Thomas and Jordan Galloway each scored 14 points to lead West Sabine, which improved to 15-3 overall and 2-0 in district.
West Sabine is at Broaddus on Friday.
