TYLER -- Bryson Smith accounted for seven touchdowns to lead John Tyler to a dominating 69-22 win over Mesquite Horn, Friday night at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.

The win clinched a playoff spot for John Tyler (8-1, 5-1), and kept the Lions in line for District 11-6A's No. 1 seed and home-field advantage in the first round of the Division II playoffs.

Smith, a Houston commit, passed for 395 yards and four touchdowns, and added 115 yards rushing and three more touchdowns. The first three scoring tosses occurred in the game's first 14 minutes, and helped JT to a 21-0 lead.

Horn cut the deficit to 34-22 with three second-quarter touchdowns, but the Lions scored four TD's in the third quarter to the put the game away. The dominating period was punctuated by Texas commit Damion Miller's 40-yard interception return for a touchdown, which gave the Lions a 62-22 lead.

Javonta Moseley, who is committed to UTSA, caught three passes for 102 yards, including two 41-yard touchdown receptions. Miller added two catches for 97 yards, which included an 86-yard score early in the second quarter.

Horn (5-4, 3-3) quarterback Chris Robison, an Oklahoma pledge, passed for 209 yards and two touchdowns on 15 of 29 completions.

Both teams conclude the regular season next Friday night. John Tyler plays crosstown rival Tyler Lee (2-7, 0-6), while Horn plays host to Rockwall-Heath (5-4, 3-3).
