BULLARD -- The Lady Panthers closed 2016 on a high note with a 50-22 home win Tuesday against Cushing in their first game out of the winter break.

Bullard began to pull away on an 11-4 run through the second quarter. That opened up what had been a 13-9 advantage after the game's first eight minutes.

The Lady Panthers' defense held Cushing to two fourth-quarter points, which allowed the team nurse up a 36-20 advantage through three periods.

Sydney Foster led Bullard with 16 points. Lauren Zachry scored a second-best 12 points on four successful 3-point shots and rounded out all double-digit scorers on the winning side.

Bullard will play a final non-district game next Tuesday at home against Pittsburg before hopping into District 15-4A competition. Cushing's next game will be its District 21-2A opener at Mount Enterprise on Jan. 6.
