KILGORE -- Pine Tree got 17 points from Caleb Chumley to win 51-48 at Kilgore on Tuesday night.

Victor Hawkins and Garrett Rayburn scored 10 points apiece for Pine Tree (1-0). Mason Hays added six.

Sherod Kincade led Kilgore (0-1) with 16 points. Pine Tree visits Spring Hill on Friday.

No. 8 LaPoynor Cruises to 93-38 Win at Dallas Gateway Charter

DALLAS -- Eighth-ranked LaPoynor got big nights from multiple players as the Flyers hammered Dallas Gateway Charter 93-38 on Tuesday.

LaPoynor's Mason Motal scored a game-high 25 points, while Octavious Crear added 20 points. James Jackson had a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double.

Point guard Deon Johnson set up his teammates all night, dishing out 13 assists to accompany his two points. Ashton Abendroth scored 12 points, and Logan McClelland had seven assists.

Neches scores 57-52 season-opening win over Eustace

NECHES -- Devin Kanetsky scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Neches to a 57-52 win over Eustace on Tuesday in the season opener for both teams.

Serge Kanetsky added 16 points and seven assists for the Tigers (1-0). Jake Sparkman added six points and 10 boards, and Harley Oakley-Collins registered five points, six steals and four assists.

  • In other boys action, Lufkin blew out Bryan Rudder 62-29, Canton beat Tyler All Saints Episcopal 65-55, and Lindale routed Sulphur Springs 58-28.

Chapel Hill Lady Bulldogs edge Palestine, 46-44

NEW CHAPEL HILL -- Derrica Campbell scored 22 points and Shay Ross added 14 to lead the Chapel Hill Lady Bulldogs to a narrow, 46-44 win over Palestine on Tuesday.

The win improved Chapel Hill to 2-1 on the season, while Palestine dropped to 2-1.

Mount Pleasant slips past Spring Hill, 59-57

MOUNT PLEASANT -- The Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers edged past Spring Hill, 59-57, in the Lady Panthers' season opener Tuesday night.

Madison Martin led Spring Hill (0-1) with 21 points, while Leslie Blevins finished with 18.

Palestine Westwood takes down Buffalo

BUFFALO -- Mi'Kayla Benson had 20 points and 10 rebounds to power Palestine Westwood past Buffalo, 60-56, Tuesday night.

Natali Muniz added 11 points, eight assists and six rebounds for Westwood. Alexis Hatten and Marialle Boles combined for 14 points and 12 boards.

No. 16 Neches rips Oakwood

NECHES -- Four players scored at least eight points for No. 16 Neches, which routed Oakwood 65-9 on Tuesday.

Kiandra Taylor led Neches (1-2) with 19 points, while Kamry Kinder added 12 points. McKay-Lee Chapman and Mary WIlliams scored eight points apiece. Kristen Dickson, Halea Kendrick, Megan Parrack, and Kelsee Wade score four points each. Brook Gatlin had two.

Neches visits Sabine on Friday.
