PRICE -- Carlisle got what it needed Friday to secure a No. 2 seed in the Class 2A Division II playoffs with an 18-14 victory against Kerens both teams' regular season finale.

The Indians (8-2, 4-1) will be participating in the playoffs for the second straight year.

Kerens (7-3, 3-2), which finished the regular season with the third seed in District 11-2A Division II, took a 7-3 lead midway through the second quarter. Carlisle responded with two consecutive touchdowns.

Bryce McGowan recaptured the lead for the Indians with a 30-yard run before the half and Ricardo Pereles opened second half scoring with a 56-yard catch to give his side an 18-7 lead.

Kerens had an opportunity to close in after Bubba Faulk scored on a three-yard carry and the Bobcats' two-point conversion, but Carlisle's defense shut the door afterward.

Carlisle held a 3-0 advantage at the end of the first quarter with Angel Garza's 29-yard field goal.
