PRICE -- Carlisle inched closer to the District 9-A Division I title with a 28-7 defeat of Big Sandy on Friday night, keeping the Indians unbeaten in league play.

Gustavo Martinez rushed for two touchdowns, Tiburcio Garcia ran for another and Rigoberto Hernandez returned a kick for a score as Carlisle improved to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in district.

Martinez rushed for 55 yards on 15 attempts and Garcia had a team-high 66 yards on just five carries.

Carlisle, which travels to Beckville next Friday night in the regular-season finale, only posted 214 yards of offense, but it was more than enough to keep Big Sandy (0-9, 0-4) winless on the season. The Wildcats have one more shot to avoid their first 0-10 season since 1992 when they host Timpson next Friday.
