Gerald Turner's performance against Groveton was so astounding, it drew high praise from a coaching veteran.

Carlisle coach Rocky Baker said it was one of the best performances he has seen in his 20 years of coaching. Turner recorded five interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown in Carlisle's Bi-District victory against Groveton on Saturday.

For his efforts, he is the ETSN.fm + Dairy Queen Defensive Player of the Week. He follows Kilgore's Demorrea Richardson, who won the award in Week 11.

The victory improved the Indians to 8-3 this season.

Carlisle has a matchup with Kerens next in the area round at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in Bullard.
