Carlisle’s Gunner Baker Strikes 14 in One-Hit Shutout of West Sabine in Series Opener

LUFKIN -- Gunner Baker struck out 14 and allowed just one hit in top-ranked Carlisle's 3-0 win over West Sabine on Friday at Morris Frank Park.

Carlisle (25-1) took a 1-0 lead in its Class A Region III semifinal series, which resumes with Game 2 at 4 p.m. Saturday back in Lufkin.

Baker improved to 13-0 on the season and has yet to give up an earned run on the year.

Zach Brightwell and Ty Baker each had two hits and an RBI to lead Carlisle at the plate. Shadow Sanders had the other RBI, while Caleb Colley went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
