CARTHAGE -- Carthage scored five first-quarter touchdowns and the Bulldog defense did not allow a first down all night in a 56-0 homecoming blowout of Huntington in Friday's District 20-3A opener at Bulldog Stadium.

Tevin Pipkin ran for first-quarter touchdowns of 2 and 30 yards, while Bryian Bolton (34) and Major Harris (41) each added a rushing touchdown. Blake Bogenschutz threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Tee Goree, and Carthage led 35-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Payton Klysen and Derontay Brown each ran for a score in the second quarter for a 49-0 halftime advantage. Brown added a third-quarter touchdown run for the eight-touchdown victory margin.

Carthage (5-2, 1-0) held Huntington (0-6, 0-1) to negative yardage in the first half.

Carthage visits undefeated Center (7-0, 1-0) next week in a key District 20-3A showdown. Huntington (0-7, 0-1) is idle before hosting Center on Oct. 26.
