CARTHAGE -- The Carthage Lady Dawgs began District 16-4A play with an emphatic 11-1 win over Center on Friday night.

Kayman Courtney led Carthage (17-4-2, 1-0) by going 3-for-4 with two RBIs, a run scored, and a stolen base. Eight other Carthage players collected hits, and seven other Lady Dawgs collected at least one RBI.

Kimberlyn Worsham had two runs batted in, while Hope Kruebbe, Carson Robertson, Kaitlynn Earle, Chelcie Pierce, Teagan Barker, and Kalli Cuff all drove in one run.

Taylor Willis went six innings in the circle for the win. She allowed one unearned run on five hits with 11 strikeouts.

Carthage returns to action Tuesday at Rusk, while Center plays host to Rusk next Friday.
