CARTHAGE -- Same song, different verse.

A week after beating Shreveport Evangel by four touchdowns in 7-on-7 football action, Carthage claimed a 39-7 rout of the Eagles at Bulldog Stadium on Thursday afternoon, according to the Panola Watchman.

Carthage 2014 receiver O'keeron Rutherford (6-6, 181), who holds an offer from ULM, caught three touchdown passes. He caught four in last week's 41-13 win against Evangel.

UTSA commit Blake Bogenschutz (6-1, 175) threw three first-half touchdown passes as the Dawgs took a 26-0 halftime lead that also included an interception return touchdown from 2014 linebacker D'Vodney Brooks (6-2, 205).

Senior receiver/cornerback Keldrean "Poodie" Strong and 2016 tight end/defensive end Marquise Guinn each caught one touchdown pass. Junior quarterback Trevin Bishop threw two second-half touchdown strikes (stats provided by the Panola Watchman).

Carthage is 1 of 6 East Texas teams that have already qualified for the Division II state 7-on-7 tournament in Leander on July 11-12.
