Carthage Runs Away With Game 1 Against Fairfield

BULLARD -- Carthage is one game from advancing to the Class 3A Region III area round after a 10-1 win Thursday against Fairfield in a best of three games series.

The game was called in the bottom of the fifth inning by the run rule after Anthony Chhor's hit a 2 RBIs single for the 10-run margin.

William Rittenberry earned the win. He allowed two hits and two walks to eight strikeouts.

Kolby Blissett batted 3-for-3 while Jarod Blissett went 2-for-4.

Blake Bogenschutz recorded a triple and Micah Templeton had a game-best three runs scored.

Game 2 will be played at 7 p.m. today in Bullard. If necessary, Game 3 will take place in Bullard at 2 p.m. Saturday.
