BRYAN -- It took 11 innings, but Carthage is headed to the Class 4A regional semifinals after a 6-5 win against Huntington at Mumford High School.

The victory allowed the Lady Bulldogs to take the best-of-three series, two games to none.

Samantha Clakley went the distance for the Carthage despite the length of the game. She recorded seven strikeouts while averaging just one base runner per inning.

Jordyn Morgan got the game-winning hit, an RBI single which brought Lexi Dawson home.

The score was tied at 4-4 after seven complete innings.

Carthage scored a run in the ninth inning, but Huntington matched it in the bottom half of the frame.

Morgan Davis reached base five times for Carthage in the game. She recorded three hits and an RBI.

The Lady Bulldogs will face Huffman Hargrave in the next round. Hargrave edged Bridge City, two games to one, in its series. Times, dates and locations are being worked out between the two winning schools.
