The Carthage Bulldogs placed three players on the first team of the Associated Press Sports Editors Class 3A all-state football team, which was released Tuesday.

Senior quarterback Blake Bogenschutz, senior receiver Terian "Tee" Goree and senior offensive lineman Adrian Goodacre were all selected to the first team based on regular-season performance. The team was voted on by members of the APSE.

Bogenschutz (6-1, 175), a UTSA commit who has set school records for career yards and career touchdowns passes, threw for 2,882 yards and 40 touchdowns with only three interceptions during the regular season. Goree (6-2, 170), a North Texas pledge and the school's single-season record holder for receiving yards and touchdowns, caught 64 passes for 1,265 yards and 22 touchdowns in 10 games. Goodacre (6-4, 310, who's committed to Louisiana-Lafayette, is a guard who helped Carthage finish the regular season by averaging 46.6 points per game.

Athens sophomore defensive back Travon Fuller was also selected to the first team after a season that included seven interceptions, 15 blocked extra points, four blocked field goals and 48 tackles.

Fairfield senior running back Larry Rose and Navasota senior defensive lineman Jordan Wells were Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, respectively.

East Texans that earned second-team recognition were: Gilmer senior offensive lineman Dylan Adkinson, Jasper senior offensive lineman Terrell Cuney, Palestine senior offensive lineman Brian Thlang, Kilgore senior defensive lineman LaDarrin Anthony and Van junior defensive lineman Brice Borgeson.

Several area players were honorable mention. They were: Chapel Hill offensive lineman Thad Bevis, Van offensive lineman Wyatt Santos, Kilgore offensive lineman Clay Wiley, Gilmer quarterback Tanner Barr, Kilgore running back Kevrin Justice, Carthage running back Tevin Pipkin, Gilmer kicker Pablin Olivares, Gladewater defensive lineman Daylon Mack, Carthage defensive lineman Mario McCain, Chapel Hill defensive lineman Keith Minor, Kilgore linebacker Jake Brantley, Jasper linebacker Markeith Cauley, Jasper linebacker DeRoddrick Hadnot, Henderson linebacker Seth Hensley, Gilmer linebacker Josh Walker, Gilmer defensive back DeVondrick Dixon and Henderson punter Zane Boles.
