The top-ranked Carthage Bulldogs entered the 2013 season with 10 returning starters on offense, none more accomplished than senior quarterback Blake Bogenschutz.

Carthage's three-year starter enjoyed one of the best performances of his career in the Bulldogs' 45-17 win over Lindale last Friday. Bogenschutz, a UTSA commit, completed 18 of 29 passes for 379 yards and four touchdowns.

For his efforts, Bogenschutz in the ETSN.fm + Dairy Queen Offensive Player of the Week.

The single-game yardage total ranks third on Carthage's all-time list, and Bogenschutz is inching closer to setting a couple of school records. His 6,221 career passing yards, which ranks second, is only 803 shy of tying the top spot. Bogenschutz also passed Si'Darius Blackshire for second place on the school's all-time list for career passing touchdowns. He needs 16 to break the record.

Three of Bogenschutz's four scoring passes last Friday went to senior receiver Terian "Tee" Goree, who finished with eight catches for 172 yards and has six TD receptions in his first two games. Bogenschutz fired scoring tosses of 52, 4 and 26 yards to Goree and added a 49-yarder to Marquise Guinn.

Bogenschutz and Carthage (2-0) face Chapel Hill (1-1) on Friday in Carthage's home opener.
