Carthage senior defensive tackle Isaiah Golden has been selected to the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, according to Bulldog coach Scott Surratt.

Golden, a 6-foot-2, 315-pound interior lineman who is committed to Texas A&M, will play in the high school all-star game Jan. 5 at San Antonio's Alamodome.

Golden is the third Carthage Bulldog selected to play in the game in as many years, following linebacker Kendall Thompson (Texas) in the 2011 game and receiver/safety Edward Pope (Texas A&M) in the 2012 game.

Carthage is off this week. Golden enters the Class 3A Division I Region III playoffs with 57 tackles, four sacks, four forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. Golden's 30 tackles for loss are tied for the East Texas lead with Van senior defensive tackle Syd Moore.

Carthage plays Palestine at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at Lufkin's Abe Martin Stadium in a 3A Division I Region III bi-district playoff.
