TYLER -- Kilgore got away 31 shots in Friday's Class 4A Region II semifinal playoff game and put 17 attempts on net in a 6-2 dismantling of Dallas A-Plus Academy that could have been a lot worse at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium. The Bulldogs had four other serious scoring chances in the contest, and both of A-Plus Academy's goals were impossible for goalkeeper Kaleb Jett to defend.

BULLARD -- Yonatan Contreras and the rest of the Kilgore Bulldogs waited 51 weeks to get another shot at Palestine and came up huge in a rematch of the 2016 state semifinal round. LINDALE -- Pittsburg scored two goals in less than a minute and hung on late to defeat Athens in the Class 4A area round Friday at Lindale's Eagle Stadium. Senior captain Cristian Martinez notched an assist at the 33:55 mark of the second half and then scored from more than 20 yards out at the 33:10 mark en route to a 2-1 victory.
