Chase Musgrove + Atlanta Blow Past Tatum, Advancing To Regional Final

LONGVIEW -- Atlanta senior quarterback Chase Musgrove accounted for six touchdowns to lead the Rabbits to a 55-21 rout of Tatum in their Class 4A Division II, Region III semifinal Saturday afternoon at Pirate Stadium.

Atlanta (12-1) advanced to the regional championship where it will face third-ranked and unbeaten Gilmer (13-0). Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday from Longview's Lobo Stadium. Tatum, meanwhile, ended its season at 7-6.

Musgrove passed for 175 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 122 yards and four more scores in the Rabbits' convincing win. Both of his touchdown passes came in the first quarter -- a 50-yarder to Eddrick King and an 80-yard strike to Jeremy Smith.

Running back DeQuan Allen added 117 yards on nine carries, King finished with 109 total yards -- 87 receiving and 22 rushing -- and scored twice. D'Corey Larry also came up with a 47-yard fumble return for a touchdown in Atlanta's 28-point second quarter.

Tatum was led offensively by J.D. Taylor, who passed for 120 yards and a touchdown on 11 of 17 completions and rushed for a team-high 70 yards and two scores on 14 carries.
