Christopher Wilhelmi, Late Fumbles Help Tyler Grace Rally Past Canton, 31-21
TYLER -- Christopher Wilhelmi threw two of his three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to help Tyler Grace Community rally past Canton, 31-21, on Thursday in the Tyler Football Classic at Tyler All Saints' Mewbourne Field.
Wilhelmi, who completed 23 of 35 passes for 235 yards, hit Parker Ary for a 42-yard touchdown and found Brady Newman for a 6-yard score just over two minutes later to give the Cougars (1-0) the lead and the eventual win.
Wilhelmi also ran the ball 16 times for 72 yards and a touchdown.
Canton (0-1) quarterback Hunter Moore threw two touchdowns and ran for another to account for all of the Eagles' touchdowns. Moore's 58-yard touchdown run in the third quarter gave the Eagles a 21-17 lead after being down 17-14 at the half.
Grace recovered two Canton fumbles in the fourth quarter to hold on to the victory.
