Cincinnati Gives Chapel Hill’s Keith Minor His First D-I FBS Offer

Cincinnati has offered Chapel Hill senior defensive lineman Keith Minor. (Christopher Vinn, ETSN.fm)

The first Division I FBS offer arrived Thursday night for Chapel Hill’s Keith Minor.

The Bulldogs’ big senior defensive lineman tweeted that Cincinnati offered him, making Minor the 33rd East Texan in the 2014 class with at least one FBS offer. The 2014 class is a deep one for the region, which produced 17 FBS signees this past February.

Minor has been a versatile player for head coach Thomas Sitton’s Chapel Hill squad. Sitton, a former defensive coordinator who played safety at SFA in college, has been able to move around Minor at multiple spots along the defensive front thanks to his size and ability.

Minor’s frame is his greatest asset. He’s 6-foot-3 going on 6-foot-4 and weighs in the 240-pound range. His size and experience playing inside suggest that he could add bulk and move to defensive tackle full-time in college. Minor competed at the ETSN.fm Football Recruiting Combine at APEC training facility in Tyler on May 19. He recorded the fastest pro agility time — 4.62 seconds — among the combine’s 11 defensive linemen.

Minor is the second player on Chapel Hill’s defense to receive an FBS offer. Senior linebacker Joseph Clark, who has been recruited as a defensive back, is committed to Texas Tech. The 5-foot-9, 180-pound Clark is out for the season with a knee injury he suffered during a 49-28 win at Henderson a couple of weeks ago.

Cincinnati’s offer to Minor is the Bearcats’ first in East Texas.
