Colorado State First Division I Offer For Kilgore’s Jonathan Shepherd

One of East Texas' most undervalued recruits in the 2018 class finally received his first Division I FBS scholarship offer on Tuesday afternoon.

Kilgore receiver Jonathan Shepherd (6-3, 196) announced via Twitter that Colorado State has offered him.

Shepherd is the 14th player in the area's 2018 class to earn at least one FBS offer, and he is the second regional athlete to become a target of Colorado State, joining Tyler Lee quarterback Chance Amie.

Last season, in a predominantly run-oriented offense, Shepherd caught 17 passes for 260 yards and three touchdowns. Kilgore shared the District 9-4A Division I title, and advanced to the area round of the playoffs, finishing with a 7-5 record.

Colorado State is a member of the Mountain West Conference. The Rams are coached by Mike Bobo, and are coming off back-to-back 7-6 seasons.

Shepherd, like all college football prospects currently in their junior year of high school, will become eligible to sign with any school that offers him in February.
