ETSN.fm had a feeling both Cooper and Edgewood would be battling it out for the District 8-2A Division II title, and through four weeks, those two appear to be head-and-shoulders above the rest of the league.

Cooper (4-0) has outscored the opposition 182-26, while Edgewood enters Friday's action sporting a 3-1 record.

Edgewood's only loss occurred last week, a 48-34 loss to Class 3A Emory Rains. Prior to that, the Bulldogs had averaged 42.3 points in wins over Kerens, Caddo Mills and Grand Saline.

Clarksville, the defending 8-A D-II champion, has begun the year 0-4 which has perhaps opened the door for another school to join the playoff discussion.

Alba-Golden (2-2) has used a stingy defense that's yielding just 14.5 points per game. If the Panthers can make some strides on the other side of the ball, A-G might find itself back in the postseason after missing out last year.

While much of the district remains a mystery, one thing is for certain: Como-Pickton is the weak link heading into league play. The Eagles have yet to score a point in four ballgames, while they have surrendered 249 -- an average of 62.3 per game.
