DAINGERFIELD -- Keris Alexander threw four touchdown passes and Malik Higgins tossed two more as Daingerfield defeated fourth-ranked New Boston, 40-23, Friday night.

Alexander, who completed 9 of 26 attempts for 150 yards, connected for touchdowns of 29, 7, 25 and 21 yards in the first half. Higgins was 4-of-4 for 72 yards, including scoring tosses of 31 and 6 yards.

Daingerfield (3-3, 2-0 in District 8-2A Division I) outgained New Boston (5-1, 1-1) 354-186 on the night and benefitted from five Lions turnovers.

Three different Daingerfield players had touchdown receptions. Keaton Key led the way with three TD's and finished with four catches for 69 yards. Denzel Mims caught four passes for 59 yards and two scores, while Keynon Whetstone grabbed a 29-yard scoring reception.

New Boston cut Daingerfield's lead to 19-16 with a 33-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Conkleton to Travis Garrett, but Alexander's 21-yard scoring strike to Key with 39 seconds remaining in the first half gave Daingerfield a 10-point halftime lead.

Daingerfield increased its lead to 40-16 in the third quarter with a 31-yard pass from Higgins to Key and a 6-yarder from Higgins to Mims.

New Boston's season resumes next Friday at home against Redwater, while Daingerfield is at Hooks also on Friday.
