Daingerfield athletic director Aric Sardinea has been hired by Alief Elsik as its next head football coach, according to a report by Matt Stepp of TheOldCoach.com.

Sardinea leaves Daingerfield after five seasons with the Tigers.

Under Sardinea's watch, Daingerfield posted a record of 38-28. The Tigers reached the Class 2A Division I state championship game in 2012, and had three seasons of 10 wins or more with Sardinea at the helm.

Daingerfield suffered through a 1-9 season in 2014, but rebounded to 5-7 last season, advancing to the area round of the 3A Division I playoffs.

Elsik, a 6A school located in southwest Houston, finished last year at 7-4, losing to Dickson in the bi-district round of the postseason.
