Texas State became the fourth Division I FBS program to offer Daingerfield's Denzel Mims, the 2016 wide receiver confirmed to ETSN.fm on Friday afternoon.

Mims (6-4, 180), the tall, rangy and fast wideout, previously picked up scholarship opportunities from Arkansas State, Texas Tech, and Tulsa.

Texas State now has eight offers out to East Texans in the 2016 class -- Mims, Mineola offensive linemen and Texas A&M commits Austin and Riley Anderson, Nacogdoches receiver Alex Gregory, Lufkin DE/OLB Bronson Massie, Jasper tight end Cody Mitchell, Marshall defensive back Micahh Smith, and Van running back Aphonso Thomas.

The Bobcats are coached by former New Mexico, TCU, Alabama and Texas A&M head coach Dennis Franchione. Texas State competes in the Sun Belt Conference, and finished the 2014 season 7-5 overall and 5-3 in league play.

In addition to his on-field exploits in football, where he caught 39 passes for 682 yards and six touchdowns while adding four interceptions and two TD's on defense in 2014, Mims was also the 2015 Class 3A state champion in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.30 seconds.

Daingerfield coach Aric Sardinea is hoping that with the return of Mims and few other impact performers, the Tigers can rebound from a 1-9 season in 2014 -- Daingerfield's worst since 1964.

The Tigers begin the 2015 season Aug. 28 at home against Gladewater.

Mims and the rest of the college football world’s 2016 prospects will become eligible to sign with programs on Feb. 3.
