TEXARKANA -- Darnell McKnight rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner in the fourth quarter of Gladewater's 14-7 win over Pleasant Grove on Thursday night.

McKnight, who did his damage on only 11 carries, tied the game in the third quarter with a 33-yard scoring run.

With the victory, Gladewater (3-5, 2-1) moved into a tie with Atlanta (4-4, 2-1), just one game behind District 6-4A Division II-leading Center (7-1, 3-0) with two weeks remaining in the regular season.

The Bears play at Spring Hill (0-7, 0-2) next Friday night, before closing out the regular season Nov. 6 at home against Center.

The low-scoring affair began with a bang as Pleasant Grove running back Keshawn Jones raced 62 yards to the end zone to give the Hawks (5-3, 1-2) a 7-0 lead just 90 seconds into the game.

The next score did not occur until McKnight's first TD came with 6:40 showing on the third-quarter clock. The eventual game-winner occurred with 5:03 to play in the game.

Jones finished the night with a game-high 120 yards on 13 carries for the Hawks, who continue their season next Friday night at Center.
