Darwin Barlow + No. 1 Newton Rip Paul Pewitt, 69-0

CARTHAGE – Darwin Barlow scored four times, and the defending state champion Newton Eagles rolled to a 69-0 rout of Paul Pewitt in their Class 3A Division II bi-district playoff Friday night.

The Eagles (10-0) will face Grand Saline (7-3) in the area round at 3 p.m. next Friday in Henderson.

Barlow scored on runs of 42, 40, 18, and 60 yards as Newton opened up a 66-0 lead at halftime.

Nate Williams returned a punt for a touchdown, and ran for another, while Josh Foster ran for and passed for a touchdown.

Paul Pewitt finished the season at 8-3.
