HEATH -- Russell Hughes doubled and drove in three runs, leading defending Class 4A state champion Rockwall-Heath to a 4-3 win over Whitehouse on Saturday in non-district baseball action.

Heath rallied for three runs in the bottom of the fifth for the win. Connor Roth pitched four shutout innings of relief for the victory on the mound.

Whitehouse (18-8), which lost to Heath in the 4A Region II semifinals last season, was led by Derek Clemons, who went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Jake Parker drove in the other run for the Wildcats.

Peyton Conser suffered the loss, allowing four runs on three hits in 4 2/3 innings. He struck out three and walked five.

Whitehouse's season continues Tuesday at Nacogdoches in District 16-4A action.
