LONGVIEW -- Mesquite ended Longview's streak of nine consecutive district titles last season, but the Lobos got their revenge in a big way Friday night.

Longview jumped out to a big lead lead early, forcing four turnovers that resulted in 28 points, and quarterback Dezmond Chumley threw five touchdowns as the Lobos routed Mesquite, 69-17, in both teams' District 12-5A opener in front of a Green-Out crowd at Lobo Stadium.

Chumley finished the night 11 of 16 for 230 yards and five TDs, spreading the ball to seven different receivers, his biggest target being Texas commit Dorian Leonard, who hauled in four passes for 107 yards and four touchdowns. The 6-foot-4 receiver scored on passes of 32, 47, and 17 yards, Chris Pellum added a 19-yard score and RB Ja’Mycal Hasty had a highlight reel 74-yard touchdown catch.

Hasty, despite being held under 100 rushing yards for the first time this season, finished the night with 59 yards and a TD to go along with the 74-yard catch, where he beat two defenders on the left sideline, slamming on the brakes to avoid one, then accelerating past the second down the sidelines to the end zone.

L’Darrius Peterson added 97 yards and a TD on the ground for Longview (4-1, 1-0).

The Lobos defense, boosted by the much-anticipated return of defensive tackle Zaycoven Henderson, was dominant all night, allowing just 159 total yards and not allowing a first down until the 4:47 mark of the third quarter.

The Skeeters finished with just two first downs on the night.

Mesquite had most of their  success offensively lining up sophomore wide receiver Robert Blythe in the wildcat at quarterback, where he scored from 1 yard out after a Longview punt was blocked by Jalen Montgomery and returned, and on an 80-yard run on the Skeeters' next possession, cutting a 28-0 deficit to 28-14, which is as close as they would get.

Blythe was the lone bright spot for the Skeeters, finishing with 82 yards and two touchdowns on the ground and catching 3 passes for 28 yards.

Henderson, who had his snaps limited after his return from a foot injury, was in the backfield on his first snap, had several quarterback pressures and recovered a fumble. He also helped the defensive unit hold running back Shadavian Reed, who entered the game averaging 9.7 yards per touch, to four total yards on three carries and a catch.

Longview (4-1, 1-0) jumped out early, scoring 28 points in the first 8:30 of the game, opening with a Chumley to Leonard strike then following with a Travin Howard 38-yard interception return for a score, the safety’s fourth pick of the season. Hasty would score from 20 yards out and Chumley would find Pellum on a fade for 19 yards to give the Lobos a 28-0 lead.

Hasty’s 74-yard TD catch answered the two Blythe touchdown runs and Leonard would add his second TD of the night just before half. Marco Rodriquez’s 30-yarder at the halftime buzzer made it 42-17 at the break.

The Lobos would pour it on in the third quarter, with Chumley finding Leonard for his third score, Peterson finding the endz one from 43 yards out and safety Laurent Johnson picking up a Blythe fumble -- the Skeeters' third of the night -- and racing 64 yards for the score. Marquies Hunter would add a 3-yard run late to finish off the scoring.

The Lobos are off next week, while the Skeeters (2-3,0-1) host Rockwall Heath.
